Lightbulb Base Facts

Not all light fixtures have the same base for lightbulbs to secure into. Make sure you read which bulbs best suits your light fixture. The base of a lightbulb is measured in millimeters and will be indicated on the box of the light fixture, the spec sheet or the instructions inside the box.

Most common lightbulb bases are an "E12" or "E26".

E26 is known as a medium or standard base. This is the base for the most common utility (A19) bulb and Ediston style bulbs.

E12's can be described as "B" base or candelabra style base. This base is smaller (12 mm in diameter) than the E26 bulbs (26 mm in diameter).
